Chin Na Shou Chuan
Chin na is generally understood to be the term for advanced level grappling within the Chinese based combative sciences. However, elements of this ancient art, as well as is "twin sister" Su na, have trickled down from ancient China and can be found to some degree in nearly every combative system in the world today. Most predominently, these include arts such as traditional Jujitsu, Tui'te, Aikido and Hapkido.
In October, 2014, Dr. Payne was honored by Shoushi Raymond Pridgen, a 9th degree black sash in the art of Pu Moshi Kung Fu, with the rank of 4th degree black sash - certified instructor, in his system's specific version of Chin na, Chin Na Shu Chuan. Dr. Payne considers Shoushi Pridgen to be one of the finest practitioners of the combative sciences with whom he has ever had the honor of training. Thus, he considers this advancement to be among the greatest honors which he has ever received in the field.
It is Dr. Payne's intention to begin teaching Chin Na Shou Chuan as an independent system in the near future. For the time being, he is utilizing his knowledge of this art to enhance his students' understandings of the grappling aspects of the Karate, Jujitsu, Kali, and other systems which they already study.
