People are sometimes confused when they here the name of the Company and the term Ken-shen ryu International used seemingly interchangably. While to do so is a misnomer, the latter being a professional association for those partaking of our training opportunities and seeking certification to offer our courses, the fact that the association has taken on a life of its own and at times overshadows the remainder of the Company is one which I have long since ceased to fight.

 

This organization is an outgrowth of the work that we do, which has come to be called Ken-shen ryu, the movement which it has spawned in the realm of the combative sciences and, at its base level, is open to any individual interested in studying the art of Ken-shen ryu, regardless of their chosen sub-system.

 

As many know, I directed the Fellowship of Independent Warriors for many years after helping to found it. I strove in that time to create a non-commercial, non-political atmosphere in which practitioners of various branches of the combative sciences could come together in a spirit or unified learning and help, each one, to make the others better.

 

With major changes taking place in the combative science community, such as the deaths of great masters, legality changes brought on by the current administration and the age old political garbage of "mine's better than yours," I realized that 2012 was the year in which I would have to become more formalized. That lead to my incorporation of the Company and the creation of Ken-shen ryu International, an organization which carries on the idea behind the FIW and everything else that we have labored together to accomplish.

 

With the incorporation of the LLC, I also saw the opportunity to bring many of my combative science ventures together into one organization, thus streamlining them to guarantee better service to the members and cutting the costs of running the various programs by over half, a savings which I can now pass on to my students and other clients.
